Deliveroo has teamed up with Coco Robotics to launch autonomous food‑delivery robots in London's Canary Wharf, with service beginning this month. The robots—small, camera‑and sensor‑equipped units that walk at a human pace—will initially serve eateries such as Patty&Bun, Signorelli and Beam, and more merchants will join later.

Following the Canary Wharf debut, the partnership will bring the same sidewalk robots to Milton Keynes, Leeds, Stockton on Tees and Nottingham, marking the first UK rollout of this technology. Deliveroo’s CEO, Miki Kuusi, stressed that robot and drone solutions are intended to help High Street businesses stay competitive and meet growing consumer demand.

The move reflects a broader shift in last‑mile logistics, where companies are adding sidewalk robots and drones to complement traditional rider fleets. In the United States, similar robots have faced public push‑back, with reports of the machines being kicked and vandalised throughout 2026, underscoring the cultural challenges of deploying autonomous delivery in dense urban environments.

What to watch next: the performance of Deliveroo’s robot fleet in varied UK locales, regulatory responses to sidewalk robots, and the upcoming expansion of drone delivery services in U.S. cities such as Denver and Seattle slated for 2027. [[1, 2]]
