OpenAI Unveils Visual GPT-6 UI and Anthropic Cuts Costs with Claude Haiku 5.5

OpenAI rolled out an "Intelligent UI" for ChatGPT alongside its new GPT-6 model, allowing users to interact with live charts, calculators, diagrams and maps directly within the chat instead of only receiving plain text. The visual interface also supports a new visual ad format in the image‑generation experience, initially tested with Free and Go users in the United States. To meet EU transparency rules, OpenAI is adding invisible watermarks to ChatGPT and Codex text outputs, ensuring compliance with the EU AI Act.

At the same time, Anthropic introduced Claude Haiku 5.5, a lightweight, low‑cost model aimed at high‑volume knowledge‑work, computer‑use and coding tasks. The model offers a 1‑million‑token context window and pricing of $0.10 per million input tokens and $0.50 per million output tokens for requests under 100,000 tokens, which Anthropic says yields roughly a 75% cost reduction compared with its prior small model.

These moves matter because they signal a shift from purely text‑centric generative AI toward richer, multimodal interactions while simultaneously making high‑frequency usage more affordable. The visual UI opens new possibilities for education, data analysis and creative workflows, and the watermarking helps address growing concerns around AI‑generated misinformation. Anthropic's price cuts lower barriers for enterprises and developers to embed AI agents in daily operations, accelerating adoption across sectors.

Watch next for how developers integrate the new visual tools into real‑world apps, whether regulators respond to the watermarking approach, and if other providers follow Anthropic’s cost‑reduction model to make AI agents even more pervasive. [[1, 2]]
