Major search platforms are introducing new AI‑focused analytics, giving web publishers deeper insight into how their content is cited and ranked by generative systems. In May 2026 Google added AI performance insights, such as share of voice, to its Merchant Center, and in June 2026 launched a generative AI performance report in Search Console, expanding visibility data to all sites by August 31. Around the same time, competitors are stepping up: Microsoft’s Clarity released Topic Insights in July, and Semrush published its AI Visibility Index in June, providing industry‑wide benchmarks. These tools matter because they let creators track AI citations—a growing traffic source—as algorithms increasingly surface AI‑generated answers. Watching the rollout of further AI metrics, the adoption rates by marketers, and any changes to search ranking algorithms will be key to understanding the next phase of search engine optimization.
